The message provides an overview of previously unknown documents found in the State Archive of Tatarstan republic. The documents contain drawings and descriptions of the Ledyanaya and Devich’ya caves located on the river Volga. This group of caves is known as the Syukeev caves. They are first mentioned in 1689. A comprehensive description of both Syukeev caves was carried out by A.V. Stupishin in the 1940s. The caves were flooded by the Kuibyshev reservoir in 1957. The archival descriptions of the caves provide morphometric information, some information about the hydrological regime, as well as an explanation of the names of the caves. The documents do not contain any references to authors or dates of research. Presumably the drawings were done at the end of the 19th century. Perhaps these documents are the only description of Devich’ya cave.
